Simone Elkeles (Perfect Chemistry)
Carrie Ryan (The Forest of Hands and Teeth)
Not really about the whole anthology. Just read Richelle Mead's, Simone Elkele's and Laini Taylor's stories.

Alright. I'm definitely not the first one to admit I only bought and read this for Richelle Mead's story. Who wouldn't want to read about one of our favorite YA couples Dimitri and Rose again? I sure missed them.

Anyway, the short story 'HOMECOMING' is such a gem. I loved it. The only bad thing I have to say about it is that it's too freaking short. But it's still filled with some romance, action and humor. Can I just say how much I loved Dimitri's creepy grandmother? She was just hilarious. And obviously we still have Rose's snarkiness and Dimitri's hotness from the original series showing up here.

I think everyone's been waiting for this short story. And I don't think you'll be disappointed. Just don't expect it too be super long or whatever. :)

Before I put the book down, I also read Simone Elkele's story 'FATED'.  She's my all-time favorite YA contemporary writer so I kinda had some big expectations. And it was met and more. I loved it. The characters were just so vivid and I kinda wished that it was turned into a full novel.

I also tried Laini Taylor's short story but it was too weird and strange. Didn't really understood it so I never finished it.

Blog Tour: Wrong Bed, Right Guy by Katee Robert

Author: Katee Robert
Release Date: July 20th 2012
Genre: Adult, Romance
Publisher: Entangled Publishing
Pages:144
Source: For Review

Seducing Mr. Wrong has never felt so right...

Prim and proper art gallery coordinator Elle Walser is no good at seducing men. Heck, she’s been throwing hints at her boss for months, but he’s completely clueless. Desperate to escape her mother’s matchmaking efforts, she comes up with a plan—buy some lingerie and climb into her boss’s bed. The plan goes brilliantly…until she accidentally seduces a sexy stranger instead.

Bad boy nightclub mogul Gabe Schultz just had the best almost-sex of his life. Too bad the smoking hot blonde thought he was his brother and bolted before he could finish what they started. Though her holier-than-thou attitude puts a serious damper on his mood, Gabe’s never been one to give up on something he wants. And he wants Elle. But does a man who lives on the dark side really have a chance with a proper lady?

This book got me at the "until she accidentally seduces a sexy stranger instead." Ha! I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did. I actually loved it. It was short, but at the same time it was brimmed with vivid characters and an engaging plot. I couldn't stop reading it.

First of all, I gotta say this book was just hilarious. Especially at the beginning. You see, Elle the main character planned to wear some lingerie and climb into her boss's bed. Except the guy sleeping on the bed was the boss's brother. Basically she almost did it with the wrong (not to mention total stranger) guy. I don't know why but I couldn't help giggling at that scene. I would have been MORTIFIED. And so embarrassed I would never show my face again. Not that I would seduce a guy when I'm this young. But still.

Gabe was the ultimate bad boy. A very sexy bad boy. And you guys know how much I love them, right? Yep. So obviously I loved Gabe. I also adored the female lead, Elle. Even though Katee Roberts created characters that are somewhat cliche (bad broken boy + good proper girl) she made up for it by adding very realistic flaws and quirks.  There were times where I wanted to slap some of them (not telling who), but I still found myself rooting for them the whole way through.

I couldn't really say anything bad about the writing. It was just spectacular. Even though this was a short book, it still showed her writing talent and how she can make us the readers care so deeply about the characters. I loved each and every one of the characters. Also the pacing was brilliant; this story flowed exceptionally well.

And I gotta say. She knows how to write a good ole sexy scene. Seriously. Whoa. They were steamy and omg hot hot hot. I was giggling and blushing like an idiot. He he. Can I say they were my favourite scenes out of the whole book? ;)

So if you love short adult contemporary romance, you should be reading WRONG BED, RIGHT GUY right now. Seriously, you do NOT want to miss this.

Thank you to publicist Jaime and Entangled Publishing for sending me this for review! :)

Author Interview: Cindi Madsen

  Demons of the Sun
Hey guys! Before we get started on this interview, I would like to say a massive thank you to Cindi for not only sending her book to me to review (it was awesome!!) but for also agreeing to the interview! Her debut book DEMONS OF THE SUN came out two days ago (Sept.4!) and everyone here should all go and buy it! And she's also got a book coming out from Entangled(you know I love all of their books, right?) this December called ALL THE BROKEN PIECES!

About the book!
Demons of the SunPersephone didn’t ask to be the guardian of Hades Dagger, an artifact Hades forged to turn demons into daywalkers. She didn’t ask for the demon blood running through her veins that allows her to touch the thing, either. And she definitely didn’t ask for Jax, a cocky Warrior, to barge into her life and proclaim himself her bodyguard now that Hades wants his dagger back.

Forced to deal with this reality, along with an increase in demon attacks, and the fact members of the Order of Zeus keep turning up dead, Persephone finds her hands full.

When demons tell Persephone that she’s one of them she’s appalled... And a little intoxicated by the power she feels when they call her their queen. Telling Jax about her demon side might turn him away from her forever...

Something bad is brewing, and if Persephone doesn’t figure out a solution, and soon she’ll be responsible for unleashing Hell on Earth.

1. How did you came up with DEMONS OF THE SUN? I love the greek mythology by the way!

Thanks! I always loved Greek mythology and their stories. I wanted to do something using the mythology, but in the modern world. I wanted my female character to be strong, but for her to have this inner struggle of who she was and who she’s meant to be. That’s where I came up with the idea that she had demon blood inside of her, constantly tugging at her, especially as things in her world got worse and worse.

2. Do you have an author(s) that you look up to or are inspired or amazed by?
So many! I love Jeri Smith-Ready, who’s got great characters and is super interactive with her fans. Rachel Hawkins and Myra McEntire are both super funny and great. Cassandra Clare writes amazing stories with amazing conflict. Stephanie Perkins and Sarah Dessen. I also love the classics, authors like Charlotte Bronte and Mary Shelley. Kelly Creaugh’s book Nevermore was amazing, and Jennifer Armentrout has great characters and romantic tension. I also adore Rachel Harris, who is one of the nicest, coolest people I know, and wrote one of the most fun books I’ve ever read, My Super Sweet 16th Century. I could fill a whole page with awesome authors.

3. Did you always know what the relationship between Jax and Persephone would be like? They're one of my favourite couples!
That makes me so happy! I knew that Persephone needed someone who wouldn’t let her push him around, because she’d basically scare the crap out of most guys. She needed someone to challenge her and who was confident enough to handle her, but also knew when she needed space and could see through her tough girl front. I love the back and forth banter, half the time attracted and half the time driven crazy by someone type of relationships. Those are some of my favorite couples, going all the way back to Pride and Prejudice.

4. Why do you write f\or young adult?
I love writing during the time when there are so many difficult decisions (What? You didn’t have to keep an ancient artifact safe from Hades during high school?) I love the first love and the high emotions and I really do think teenagers rock! I work with the teens at yaromance.com, and they’re awesome. I think in some ways, I never really grew up either. I do write for adults, too, it’s just all about what story I want to tell and how the characters come to me. I’m also so glad there are so many options. When I was in high school (dating myself here a little) it was Nancy Drew or Sweet Valley High. So happy there are so many great YA stories out there now.

5. Tell us a little bit about your writing journey from the first word to publication.

Well, that’s a loooong story. Longer than any of my books. I always liked to read and I always had stories in my head. So I sat down and wrote one. I think the humor was good, but I had no idea what I was really doing. I wrote a couple more, then more and more. Finally I got to a place I’d done everything I could myself, but was told by agents my ideas were good, but my writing wasn’t there. It was pretty crushing, honestly, but I found a writers group and then a critique group. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, because it was more of what was wrong with my writing. But they told me about the good things too, and one of the ladies said reading it made her feel like a teen again :) So I worked for two more years, got a lot more rejection, and then finally found two publishing companies who wanted my two different stories within the same week! It was a dream come true. There were more edits and a lot more hard work and even tears, but then I got to see the covers and it all started to feel more real. And then people started reading it and telling me they loved it. That made all the hard work worth it.

6. Who's your favourite character? And if you can change anything about Demons of the Sun, what would it be?

Pick a character? That’s like choosing a favorite child. I love Persephone and Jax, and I think they need each other. Also, I really love Turtle. That mangy cat stole my heart a little. As for changing anything, I know there’s a typo, even after all the passes, and I probably shouldn’t say anything in hopes no one notices, but yeah, I’d get rid of that.

7. If you could live in any fictional world what world would it be?

Well, a lot of the fictional worlds I read are beautifully dark. Not sure I’d want to live there, even though I love living in the book. So I guess I’m going to be kinda shallow and say I’d live in Myra McEntire’s world so I could stare at Kaleb. And I mean, the time travel thing would be cool, too, but I’d probably just keep traveling to where I could see when Kaleb was shirtless.

8. If you could be one supernatural being, what would it be and why?

Probably a witch. That encompasses a lot of things, like spells and flying, and turning people into toads. Wouldn’t it be fun to turn mean people into toads?

9. Can you tell us something about your other YA novel coming out from Entangled Teen this December, ALL THE BROKEN PIECES? And I'm a sucker for romance, so I hope there will be lots of sexy scenes! ;P

Sure! And I’m a total sucker for romance, too :) ALL THE BROKEN PIECES is about a girl who wakes up from a coma with no memory of her past and two distinct, warring voices in her head. She’s broken and trying to move on and get past this sense of wrongness she feels, all while trying to get the hang of high school and all the drama that brings. She meets Spencer, who’s very standoffish at first, but they start spending more and more time together. Things only get weirder, though, so she enlists Spencer to help her figure out what really happened in her past.

10. And finally, what can we expect from you next year (2013), new books, new stuff?

Well, I just signed a contract with Entangled Publishing for my adult romantic comedy CINDERELLA SCREWED ME OVER and my editor and I are discussing my next YA novel. I’ll keep my website and blog updated with the news as I get it. http://cindimadsen.com

Thank you so much to Cindi!
About Cindi's other upcoming book coming from Entangled Teen!
All the Broken PiecesWhat if your life wasn’t your own?

Liv comes out of a coma with no memory of her past and two distinct, warring voices inside her head. Nothing, not even her reflection, seems familiar. As she stumbles through her junior year, the voices get louder, insisting she please the popular group while simultaneously despising them. But when Liv starts hanging around with Spencer, whose own mysterious past also has him on the fringe, life feels complete for the first time in, well, as long as she can remember.

Liv knows the details of the car accident that put her in the coma, but as the voices invade her dreams, and her dreams start feeling like memories, she and Spencer seek out answers. Yet the deeper they dig, the less things make sense. Can Liv rebuild the pieces of her broken past, when it means questioning not just who she is, but what she is?

Without it, she’d be even crazier. She has way too many shoes, but can always find a reason to buy a new pretty pair, especially if they’re sparkly, colorful, or super tall. She loves music, dancing, and wishes summer lasted all year long. She lives in Colorado (where summer is most definitely NOT all year long) with her husband and three children.

THE COLLECTOR: A DANTE WALKER NOVEL
by Victoria Scott

March 2013 (whaaaat?!?!)
~ Entangled Teen ~

He makes good girls..bad.
Dante Walker is flippin’ awesome, and he knows it. His good looks, killer charm, and stellar confidence have made him one of hell’s best—a soul collector. His job is simple, weed through humanity and label those round rears with a big red good or bad stamp. Old Saint Nick gets the good guys, and he gets the fun ones. Bag-and-tag.

Sealing souls is nothing personal. Dante’s an equal opportunity collector and doesn’t want it any other way. But he’ll have to adjust, because Boss Man has given him a new assignment:
Collect Charlie Cooper’s soul within 10 days.

Dante doesn’t know why Boss Man wants Charlie, nor does he care. This assignment means only one thing to him, and that’s a permanent ticket out of hell. But after Dante meets the quirky, Nerd Alert chick he’s come to collect—he realizes this assignment will test his abilities as a collector, and uncover emotions deeply buried.

Blog Tour: The White Forest by Adam McOmber (Guest Post as character Jane)

clicky here for full tour schedule hosted by Shane @itchingforbooks

The White Forest
About the book!
Young Jane Silverlake lives with her father at a crumbling family estate on the edge of Hampstead Heath. Jane has a secret—an unexplainable gift that allows her to see the souls of manmade objects—and this talent isolates her from the outside world. Her greatest joy is wandering the wild heath with her neighbors, Madeline and Nathan. But as the friends come of age, their idyll is shattered by the feelings both girls develop for Nathan, and by Nathan’s interest in a cult led by Ariston Day, a charismatic mystic popular with London's elite. Day encourages his followers to explore dream manipulation, with the goal of discovering a new virtual reality, a place he calls the Empyrean.
A year later, Nathan has vanished, and the famed Inspector Vidocq arrives in London to untangle the events that led up to Nathan’s disappearance. As a sinister truth emerges, Jane realizes she must discover the origins of her talent and use it to find Nathan herself, before it’s too late.
Adam McOmber, whose short story collection This New and Poisonous Air earned glowing praise for its evocative prose, here reveals a gift for fantastical twists and dark turns that literary fans will relish

GUEST POST by author Adam McOmber
In the voice of character Jane Silverlake
I didn’t mean for it to turn out this way.

Even my dearest friends might now claim that I am a monster—that I ruined the lives of everyone close to me.  But please allow me to speak for myself.

I fell in love.  That much is true.  Nathan Ashe, the charming and handsome son of Lord William Ashe, came unexpectedly into my life and I could not help myself.  He allowed me to imagine, for a moment, that I was some blushing girl at a cotillion in London.  I could picture Nathan standing across a crowded ballroom, looking sharp and polished in his red uniform, telling stories of the Crimean War.  I wanted desperately to be a girl who could find herself with a man like him.  But I should have known—I’m not exactly average.  Some would claim I’m not even human at all.  I’ll leave that up to you to decide.

For now, simply imagine me locked in the shadows of my father’s house at the edge of Hampstead Heath.  My mother died when I was very young.  I felt so alone after that, like some ghost who roamed the darkened halls.  I was cared for only by the maids.  I won’t even tell you how cruel they were to me.  They were afraid, you know.  Afraid of how I could make the house seem to come to life around them.  I could make the very walls sing.  Nathan Ashe would later call this my “talent.”  It’s one of the things that drew him to me.  In fact, maybe it was the only thing that drew him to me.  He wanted me to be an experiment.  He was going to bring me to the cult in Southwark that he had joined after coming back from the war.  That’s why I became so angry with him.  You understand that, don’t you?  I had every reason to be angry.

My dearest friend, Madeline Lee, would argue that I am an irrational creature.  She’s sorry that she rescued me from the isolation of my father’s house.  Sorry that she brought me out into the world.   Maddy says I belong in the shadows.  I am the sort of creature who should be hidden away.

I understand her unhappiness, of course.  She was in love with Nathan Ashe too.  He began to court us both.  That’s when the trouble really started.  I don’t want to say much more.  It all turned out so badly.  But you see, the three of us discovered that there is something out there beyond simple human desire and envy—something invisible but shining bright.  A white forest, unseen by the common human eye.  That’s where the three of us discovered the truth.  And it was a frightening truth, to be sure.

Review: The Dark Light - Sara Walsh

Author: Sara Walsh
Release Date: August 28th 2012
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy Romance
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Pages: 496
Source: Bought
You buy it: The Book Depository

Mia is torn between two guys—and two worlds—in this epic, romantic fantasy.Mysterious lights have flickered above Crownsville for as long as Mia can remember. And as far as she’s concerned, that’s about the only interesting thing to happen in her small town.

That is, until Sol arrives. Mia’s not one to fall for just any guy, but she can’t get Sol—or the brilliant tattoo on his back—out of her mind.

Then Mia’s brother goes missing, and Mia’s convinced that Sol knows more than he’s sharing. But getting closer to Sol means reevaluating everything Mia once believed to be true. Because Sol’s not who Mia thought he was—and neither is she.

Wow. Let me just say how much I very much enjoyed this book. I had such high expectations from it, and it didn't disappoint. This debut by Sara Walsh is such an exhilarating read from start to finish, and a must read for fantasy fans.

When I first came across this book (I think it was for its cover reveal), I thought it was paranormal. Guys, be aware this is fantasy. You guys know how very picky I am of fantasy but I really love the other world Sara Walsh created. It was actually something that I've never seen before, and the magic and action was just the perfect touch.

The MC, Mia, was such a likeable character. She was very relatable, kind and caring. I guess you can call her your typical YA heroine but something about her just really intrigue me from the very first page. How much she cares for her little brother and her family is just SO sweet. But the only thing that kinda annoyed me about her is how sometimes I don't agree with her decisions, and some of her stupid actions. Like getting out of a car at night to look at some weird lights. I WOULD NEVER DO THAT. EVER. Well, maybe it's just me but.

Anyway, let's talk about Sol and his tattoo. I could be here forever and say a lot about his sexy tattoo, but I won't. All you just need to know about Sol and his tattoo is that this guy surprised the hell out of me. There were some revelations and secrets uncovered throughout the book and I was just reading it with my mouth open like a frigging fish. Sol is just so unpredictable and mysterious - so if you like guys like that, read this book!

The romance was very slow, and developed at a right pace. Sure, I was screaming at them to hurry up and kiss already (don't mind me) but you gotta admit that their way is better.

This bit from the summary really confused the hell out of me after I read this book - "Mia is torn between two guys". From reading that you would think there would be a love triangle. BUT THERE ISN'T. Sure, there was this guy from her small town. But you seriously wouldn't consider him as a real love interest. The dude was on the page for only a second.

The secondary characters were the best! Sara has written some of my favourite ever: Vermillion. I loved her. And Delane's probably my favourite character from the whole book. The rest of the characters are really fully fleshed out and after you read the book it feels like you've known them for ages. Which is a good thing, peeps.

The ending was just perfect. This is currently a stand-alone and I love how she left us all satisfied yet leaving things open later. Such a fun and exciting read throughout.

Random Highlights of August (Bookish, Random stuff)

~ (Bookish) I got Rebel Heart (UK published it early than US) but haven't read it yet. Why? Coz I came across a spoiler (totally my fault) and I DO NOT LIKE WHAT HAPPENED AT THE END. Stupid heroines. Makes me sick. Argh.

~ (Bookish) Found one of my favourite writers - M. Leighton. Read The Wild Ones and then Fragile straight after. What an amazing writer. <3 p="p">

~ (Random) My mum had operation on 3rd August but thank you God it went well.

~ (Bookish) I discovered Harry Potter. Before you all start yelling at me, I have watched the movies 1-5. But I only read the books this month and I read 1-4 during my holiday. So - beach + Harry Potter + ice cream = the best thing ever.

~ (Random) Got my GCSE results!! Ugh! So scary! I got them a day later than everyone (since I was on holiday and I got my friend to collect mine and our yearbook!). My results was better than I expected. Got 8 As (Maths, English Lit, Science, Art, RE, Citizenship and 2 for ICT OCR. Then 3 Bs (Eng Lanuage, French and Graphics. My 2 Cs (Science from year 10 and PE.) My parents got me a new monitor for it and my mum took me shopping today and payed for EVERYTHING. Love your parents, guys!

That's it, guys! I can't actually remember much what happened this month (bookish related or otherwise). Yeah I have such an exciting life.
