IIWTWAB (2): Paulina @ Kissed/Bitten By Books

Usual standard format of IIWTWAB ~

: Genre(s):
: A sentence or two explaining the storyline:
: What the two main characters will be like (personalities, looks etc.):
: What the cover will look like:
: Preferred publishing house(s):
: Already published YA books that is quite similar to your one:

This month is:

~ If I were to write a YA book (sort of am already, failing a bit) it would be a paranormal, with a lot of romance and hot scenes cause that’s how I roll. But no I have a thing for paranormal books right now- something believable but something that blows your mind as well.

It would be about a fallen angel- Daniel, and a normal teenage girl Rose. Most of the book would be about her being in love with him but not wanting to admit it, and him chasing after her. As always there has to be a love triangle but the second guy is going to be a crazy lunatic who tries to kill everyone, hm maybe halfway through he can go into a school and kill a load of people for the sake of it? And then get shot by the swat team? It’s work in progress. That might be a tad too much. But something along those lines. I love sappy love stories, but what’s the fun in that? Something massive should happen with the couple at the very end- and have a second book! Yes! I’m a genius. But yeah I want there to be loads of hot scenes between them :D
Oops kind of got carried away there.

May I just add that everyone that I like will be very sexy and good looking and all the umpa lumpa bitches that are going to be there are gonna be butt ugly ( 4 girls in particular that I hate in school).

The cover: um not really sure what, but I want both Daniel and Rose in there, and make a happy cover maybe them hugging or something? Also the title and my name will have to be very pretty, with a nice font (I might invent a new font for this) I hate it when authors use every day fonts it’s really plain.

I loved Hush Hush and I love the idea of it so it will be quite similar to it, but it will have some stuff similar to Shiver, and Tempest. ~

Can I just say that I've read some of Paulina's story and it is HILARIOUS and SEXY as hell. Also, since we both go to the same school and hang out, I knew which 4 mean girls she's talking about. Gotta hate them umpa lumpas ;)

Showcase Sunday (2)

I'm back! I missed doing Showcase Sunday, and now that my exams are (mostly) over, I can now fully concentrated on reading and blogging! Yay!  I will be participating in this meme hosted by the lovely Vicky at Books, Biscuits, and Tea every Sunday to basically show the books that we got during the week! :D

A LITTLE MOAN: It really makes me mad ( I'm trying really hard not to swear right now) that Blogger won't let me save or publish my posts when it has TOO many photos and whatnot. I took lots of photos for this Showcase Sunday, and whenever I paste them here the SAVE or PUBLISH button just magically disappears. Now, this isn't the first time it has happened, and Blogger is seriously annoying me right now. I'm thinking I want to move to Wordpress but have no idea how to. Help? END OF RANT.

Review: Chosen Ones - Tiffany Truitt

Author: Tiffany Truitt
Genre: Young Adult, Dystopian
Release Date: June 12th 2012
Publisher: Entangled
Pages: 400
Source: ARC (provided by the publisher)

What if you were mankind’s last chance at survival?

Sixteen-year-old Tess lives in a compound in what was once the Western United States, now decimated after a devastating fourth World War. But long before that, life as we knew it had been irrevocably changed, as women mysteriously lost the ability to bring forth life. Faced with the extinction of the human race, the government began the Council of Creators, meant to search out alternative methods of creating life. The resulting artificial human beings, or Chosen Ones, were extraordinarily beautiful, unbelievably strong, and unabashedly deadly.

Life is bleak, but uncomplicated for Tess as she follows the rigid rules of her dystopian society, until the day she begins work at Templeton, the training facility for newly created Chosen Ones. There, she meets James, a Chosen One whose odd love of music and reading rivals only her own. The attraction between the two is immediate in its intensity—and overwhelming in its danger.

But there is more to the goings-on at Templeton than Tess ever knew, and as the veil is lifted from her eyes, she uncovers a dark underground movement bent not on taking down the Chosen Ones, but the Council itself. Will Tess be able to stand up to those who would oppress her, even if it means giving up the only happiness in her life?
So, that was totally unexpected! This book totally surprised me in a lot of ways, both good and bad.

I LOVED the plot. One of the most original and riveting dystopian stories out there right now, and I really appreciated the underlying philosophical and ethical themes to the CHOSEN ONES. I couldn't wait to discover all the secrets along with the characters, and that was what kept me reading even though I found the main characters unlikeable. I thought the idea of the Chosen Ones and the Naturals were oh so fucking immense. The world building, and the writing was exceptional to say the least.

What really let me down was the characters. I've said time and time again that I can forgive a weak plot but with very engaging and interesting characters, but I can't do it the other way around. I NEED to like the characters. I NEED to be able to connect with them, and root for them. Sadly, this was not the case for the characters in here. I thought Emma was a bit too weird and cynical - which I totally understand, if I was in her position, I would be like that, too, but sometimes it was just a bit TOO much - and that James (the love interest) was too perfect, too bland, and quite frankly, too boring. I also felt like we didn't really get to know the characters very well even though the book was average-length and there was a lot of scenes with them.

I had really high expectations for this book. And while I was disheartened by the characters, I was blown away by the plot and the overall idea. If you enjoy thrilling dystopians, with beautiful writing and a heart-stopping plot, then I think you'll love CHOSEN ONES :)

Cover Reveal: The Collector - Victoria Scott

{ THE COLLECTOR: A DANTE WALKER NOVEL }
{ VICTORIA SCOTT }

Blurb:

Dante Walker is flippin’ awesome, and he knows it. His good looks, killer charm, and stellar confidence have made him one of hell’s best—a soul collector. His job is simple, weed through humanity and label those round rears with a big red good or bad stamp. Old Saint Nick gets the good guys, and he gets the fun ones. Bag-and-tag.

Sealing souls is nothing personal. Dante’s an equal opportunity collector and doesn’t want it any other way. But he’ll have to adjust, because Boss Man has given him a new assignment:
Collect Charlie Cooper’s soul within 10 days.

Dante doesn’t know why Boss Man wants Charlie, nor does he care. This assignment means only one thing to him, and that’s a permanent ticket out of hell. But after Dante meets the quirky, Nerd Alert chick he’s come to collect—he realizes this assignment will test his abilities as a collector, and uncover emotions deeply buried.

30 Days of Daemon: Review of Obsidian - Jennifer L. Armentrout

  BLOG TOUR - MY REVIEW OF OBSIDIAN
Obsidian (Lux, #1)
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Release Date: May 15th 2012 (re-release)
Publisher: Entangled
Pages: 446
Source: Bought

Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don't kill him first, that is.

Most of you probably already know my obsession with this Lux series (or any of Jennifer's books for that matter) and if not, have you been living under a rock?? I think EVERYONE have heard of this AMAZING (uh yeah that's an understatement) series. If not, go and look at the 30 Days of Daemon blog tour and WHAT ABOUT THIS THING THAT HAS EVERYONE THROWING FOOD AT EACH OTHER? Oh, YEAH it's the Daemon Invasion.

I read this back in December, and obviously it's nearly June so forgive me if I miss really important teeny tiny bits :P I had such a hard time to actually start this review (surprise surprise) so I thought WHY NOT START WITH THE MEGA HOT DAEMON? You've ALL heard of Mr. Black. The sexy, douchebag and swoon-worthy asshole. Who you just can't help but love. *Sigh*. If only there were guys like Daemon in my school. I could write a whole fucking page about him, but that seriously would take FOREVER. So, if you enjoy bad buys and guys poking you in the back with a damn pen, then no doubt you'll fall in love as much as I did with Daemon. *Fans self* Oh god, now I REALLY want to re-read that laptop scene ;)

If I can describe this whole book in one word? Sexy. Yup, you heard me. This book is brimming with sexual tension so thick you can cut it with a knife. No, seriously. The fighting and the bickering seriously added SOME very humorous laughs, and the witty dialogue had me laughing and giggling like a silly schoolgirl. Uh, yeah I AM a schoolgirl. (Well, until this week hehe.)

Ya'll know that I basically despise half of the female YA protagonists and heroines out there. So, you can understand why I was a bit wary and skeptical about Kat at first. Think she's the whiny, needy type? Think again you loser. Kat is seriously right at the top with Celaena (Throne of Glass - Sarah J. Maas) and Tris (Divergent - Veronica Roth) being as my Top Three Favourite Girls.And you know how I'm so picky with the girls and how I'm going to seriously stab someone if they WHINE WHINE AND MORE WHINE AND if their lives SUDDENLY revolve around their sparkly boyfriend. Meh.

I'm BIG on character development, and I personally prefer to have very engaging and interesting characters rather than a complex plot, so I was more than thrilled when Obsidian, being the first book of the series (first out of five books) was focused more on Katy and Daemon's relationship, and all about setting up the story arc and the plot for the rest of the series. Now, that doesn't mean it's full of boring descriptions and histories and whatnot. It's equally addicting, compelling and breathtaking. And it's all down to Jennifer's writing. SO FREAKING JEALOUS. I love her really.

So. Have I convinced you to buy and read Obsidian? Yes? I love you. No? Well, I think you're crazy.

Blog Tour: Tallis - M.C. Rae (Guest Post)

  BLOG TOUR - GUEST POST:
By  author M.C. Rae

Where I Write...

Welcome to my closet.
Welcome to my office.
Welcome to my CLOFFICE.
Please step inside, but one at a time.
This is it folks. This is where the magic happens. And by magic, I mean writing until 1 AM, drinking way too much coffee, and slowly driving myself towards premature laser eye surgery.
The term “cloffice” was coined by my older daughter, who smashed together the words “closet” and “office” to describe my 24 sq. ft. space. And that’s just what it is: a laundry closet where once stood a dysfunctional washer and dryer and where now, most nights of the week, sits a dysfunctional novelist. In this picture, you’re seeing about 60% of the room. A fake plant is strategically located to cover up an ugly outlet. Immediately on desk right there’s a calendar and a whiteboard where all my tasks and deadlines are posted.
While a modest space, this is a big step up from my last dedicated writing space, which was no more than a papasan chair with a curtain around it. This space has a door, which makes it easier for me to concentrate when other areas of the house get loud and busy. Behind my seating area, I have my industrial printer and lots of reference and autographed books. I also have a cubby for holding things like romance trading cards, bookmarks, etc.

M.C. Rae (aka Killian McRae) is a cross-genre author whose works include elements of history, fantasy, science fiction, and romance- sometimes all in the same novel. She hails from the midwest but currently makes her home in Northern California. She is  a devout student of history,a podcaster, an amateur graphics and web designer, a coffee enthusiast, and has an unhealthy obsession with world music.
