Mini RevIew: Frigid - J. Lynn

Frigid (Frigid, #1)Title: Frigid (Frigid #1)

Author: J. Lynn (Jennifer L. Armentrout)

Release Date: July 15th 2013

Publisher:  Spencer Hill Press

Genres: NA, Contemp, Romance

Pages: unknown

Source: First borrowed, then bought after release

For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn't anything new. They'd been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with that? Kyler puts the 'man' in man-whore. He's never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn't want to risk their friendship by declaring her love.

Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To him, she's perfect and she's everything. But the feelings he has for her, he's always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have.

But when they're stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor'easter, there's nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet, can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them, and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one.

Short review!

I'm going to make this a short review since there's nothing else I can tell you about this book except that it was: EPIC. My all-time favourite NA and possibly JLA book. FRIGID is even better than her WAIT FOR YOU, which is definitely saying something since I loved that book as much as I love cupcakes.

Jennifer L. Armentrout is my hero. She's the queen of sexual tension and her writing style is just fab. This may seem like such an overdone and cliche plot but she makes it different and fun. I've always been a fan of the best friends-to-lovers stories and I devoured this book.

Sydney and Kyler are such awesome characters I wish they were real! They're so wonderfully developed and their interactions are just the best! What I really loved about them was that they were so relatable and college people that you can actually meet in real life. Sydney is so like me it's unreal. Her feelings and reactions to things would just be how I'll be in her situation, not to mention we both like reading. Kyler at first is your typical manwhore but when he and Syd were both stranded together his real side starts to come out. He's got a very sweet and swoony side. ;) The side characters Andrea and Tanner were so cute and interesting that I have a feeling the sequel/companion will be about them (fingers crossed)!

This stands out from most New Adult books out there as the main characters don't have a secret/troubled past. YES. FINALLY. I've been waiting to read a book where the main characters don't have a troubled past. Because seriously, I'm getting freaking tired of those already.

And if you need one more reason (which you don't) to buy this book, well let's just say there's plenty of hot and steamy scenes for everyone to enjoy :P

Updates!

Hey guys!

As some of you already now, my family will be moving houses starting today. Now, we won't be moving quite far, it's just actually in another town that's right NEXT to the old one. Lol.

Anyway, what I want to say is that just please keep in mind I HAVE A NEW MAILING ADDRESS. And the old one obviously can't be used.

Also, the blog posts next week will be very limited as I have no idea when my dad can fix the internet and stuff. So yeah. Sorry this is such a short, boring post but just want to let you all know. :)

Waiting On Wednesday (47)

  A Mad, Wicked Folly

January  23rd 2014
~ Viking Juvenile ~

Welcome to the world of the fabulously wealthy in London, 1909, where dresses and houses are overwhelmingly opulent, social class means everything, and women are taught to be nothing more than wives and mothers. Into this world comes seventeen-year-old Victoria Darling, who wants only to be an artist—a nearly impossible dream for a girl.

After Vicky poses nude for her illicit art class, she is expelled from her French finishing school. Shamed and scandalized, her parents try to marry her off to the wealthy Edmund Carrick-Humphrey. But Vicky has other things on her mind: her clandestine application to the Royal College of Art; her participation in the suffragette movement; and her growing attraction to a working-class boy who may be her muse—or may be the love of her life. As the world of debutante balls, corsets, and high society obligations closes in around her, Vicky must figure out: just how much is she willing to sacrifice to pursue her dreams?
Add to Goodreads

We need more main characters who are very interested in art!! As someone who loves just being artistic and creative, reading about a character like that is just as awesome! Also, it's set in the 1909s in London! What more do you need? This sounds like the author knew what I want to read and basically wrote a book for me lol :) Yep, debutante balls, corstes, dresses and art, they ARE my favorite things you know!

Cover Thoughts:

I do like the background and the placing of the title but the girl and the yellow dress just looks so out of place and badly photoshopped.

So, what do you think of my WoW this week?

Cover Reveal: Taming Cross by Ella James

ABOUT TAMING CROSS:

For twenty-three years, Cross Carlson was a playboy. You know the type. Tall, dark, and wealthy. Blue-eyed. Charming. He seemed to have it all so easy. But Cross was harboring a terrible secret - one that helped ruin the life of an innocent girl and almost ended his own.

Finally out of the hospital, Cross is flailing, scarred in both body and mind and stifled by the weight of the secret he still keeps. The only way to absolution lies in a Mexican convent, and going there could cost him everything.

If there's anyone who knows what it's like to screw up big time, it's Meredith Kinsey. Just a few years ago, Merri was an ordinary girl with a job at her college newspaper and white picket fence kind of dreams. Now she's holed up in a Mexican convent, hiding from a drug lord who thinks he owns her.

What happens when the only way out of hell is with the son of the man who put you there? They say love conquers all, but does it really?

ABOUT ELLA JAMES:

I'm a 20-something sci-fi nerd with a journalism degree and a serious York Peppermint Pattie addiction. I spend my days baby-wrangling and dog-chasing and my nights tapping on my laptop and hanging out with my writer/editor husband. A fun day for me involves lots of writing, running, and researching topped off with some quality Kindle time. My life's goal is to find an empty cottage in an enchanted forest, install a solar panel for my laptop, and move in - never to be seen again, except in sweatpants.

While most seventeen-year-old American girls would refuse to let their parents marry them off to a stranger, Robyn Mason dreams of the mysterious McKale in Ireland, wondering how he’ll look and imagining his cute Irish accent. Prearranged bindings are common for magical families like her own, however when she travels to the whimsical Emerald Isle she discovers there’s more to her betrothal and McKale’s clan than she could have imagined.

What starts as an obligatory pairing between Robyn and McKale morphs over time into something they both need. But one giant obstacle stands the way of their budding romance: a seductive and deadly Fae princess accustomed to getting what she wants—and what she wants is McKale as her plaything. Love, desire, and jealousies collide as Robyn’s family and McKale’s clan must work together to outsmart the powerful Faeries and preserve the only hope left for their people.

Review: Star Cursed - Jessica Spotswood

Star Cursed (The Cahill Witch Chronicles, #2)Title:  Star Cursed (The Cahill Witch Chronicles #2)
Author: Jessica Spotswood

Release Date: June 18th 2013

Publisher: Putnam Juvenile

Genres: YA, Historical, Witchcraft

Pages: 384

Source:  Bought

With the Brotherhood persecuting witches like never before, a divided Sisterhood desperately needs Cate to come into her Prophesied powers. And after Cate's friend Sachi is arrested for using magic, a war-thirsty Sister offers to help her find answers—if Cate is willing to endanger everyone she loves.

Cate doesn't want to be a weapon, and she doesn't want to involve her friends and Finn in the Sisterhood's schemes. But when Maura and Tess join the Sisterhood, Maura makes it clear that she'll do whatever it takes to lead the witches to victory. Even if it means sacrifices. Even if it means overthrowing Cate. Even if it means all-out war.

In the highly anticipated sequel to Born Wicked, the Cahill Witch Chronicles continue Cate, Maura and Tess's quest to find love, protect family, and explore their magic against all odds in an alternate history of New England.

I don't normally read a lot of books about witches, though I'm not really sure why. It's not like I don't like them, because I DO. Ahem. Anyway, as I was saying, even though I don't really read a lot about witches, this CAHILL WITCH CHRONICLES series have hooked me right from the very beginning. While I still prefer and love BORN WICKED even more, STAR CURSED is a sequel with everything that you could ever want. High stakes, dangerous witchcraft, forbidden romance, sister rivalries and more.

I seriously adore Cate. In all honesty, she's my most favourite 'kind' heroine. She's not kickass like Katniss and Tris and all the others, but I found this very refreshing and adorable to read. She's SOOOO kind it's almost painful to read about her because well, I'm not that nice myself lol. She's sweet, responsible, smart and think things through without being boring. She's not boring or whiny, she's everything a heroine should be. She's just trying to be the best sister to Tess and Maura, and to be nice to others even though she doesn't need to be. Even though some girls are so bitchy to her, she always keeps her head held high. I liked that a lot!

We learn a lot more about Maura and Tess in this sequel too. I love how all sisters all have different personalities without being cliche. I still bloody hate Maura, and want to kill her. Tess is such a sweetheart. Can I just say, that reading this series makes me glad I don't have a sister. Thank GOD! Anyway, all the other characters were very developed and interesting. All of them weren't predictable, you don't know who's good, who's bad, who just betrayed you etc.

Jessica Spotswood's writing is just perfect, I really don't have anything negative to say about that or the pacing. The prophecy and witchcraft was awesome to read about! Always love me some prophecy :) Revelations and secrets were revealed at just the right time, and HOLY CLIFFHANGER OF DEATH. Now this people, IS a cliffhanger. Prepare to scream at the last page. I honestly couldn't believe it!!!!

If you haven't read BORN WICKED yet, please please get your damn copy now. Oh, and also add STAR CURSED to that too, you'd want to read it soon after. Just don't kill me when you get to the cliffhanger. :P
