Where I Write...
Welcome to my closet.
Welcome to my office.
Welcome to my CLOFFICE.
This is it folks. This is where the magic happens. And by magic, I mean
writing until 1 AM, drinking way too much coffee, and slowly driving myself
towards premature laser eye surgery.
The term “cloffice” was coined by my older daughter, who smashed
together the words “closet” and “office” to describe my 24 sq. ft. space. And
that’s just what it is: a laundry closet where once stood a dysfunctional
washer and dryer and where now, most nights of the week, sits a dysfunctional
novelist. In this picture, you’re seeing about 60% of the room. A fake plant is
strategically located to cover up an ugly outlet. Immediately on desk right
there’s a calendar and a whiteboard where all my tasks and deadlines are
posted.
While a modest space, this is a big step up from my last dedicated
writing space, which was no more than a papasan chair with a curtain around it.
This space has a door, which makes it easier for me to concentrate when other
areas of the house get loud and busy. Behind my seating area, I have my
industrial printer and lots of reference and autographed books. I also have a
cubby for holding things like romance trading cards, bookmarks, etc.
M.C. Rae (aka Killian McRae) is a cross-genre
author whose works include elements of history, fantasy, science fiction, and
romance- sometimes all in the same novel. She hails from the midwest but
currently makes her home in Northern California. She is a devout student
of history,a podcaster, an amateur graphics and web designer, a coffee
enthusiast, and has an unhealthy obsession with world music.
