An assassin’s loyalties are always in doubt.
But her heart never wavers.
After a year of hard labor in the Salt Mines of Endovier, eighteen-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien has won the king's contest to become the new royal assassin. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown – a secret she hides from even her most intimate confidantes.
Keeping up the deadly charade—while pretending to do the king's bidding—will test her in frightening new ways, especially when she's given a task that could jeopardize everything she's come to care for. And there are far more dangerous forces gathering on the horizon -- forces that threaten to destroy her entire world, and will surely force Celaena to make a choice.
Where do the assassin’s loyalties lie, and who is she most willing to fight for?
I've already been such a huge fan of Sarah even before her debut book released but I fell even more in love with her writing (and characters) after I read them. Just before I get on with this review, I would just want to say to Sarah a big THANK YOU for creating this world (and my husband Chaol) and for making me like Fantasy. Normally, you would never catch me reading a fantasy novel, but this series just continues to captivates me. CROWN OF MIDNIGHT is officially one of the best books I've read this year, if not, ever.
I'll do my five reasons why you should read this book! (Not that you need one!)
2~ There's no love triangle. At least, that's what it's like for me. In the first book, we get to see Dorian and Chaol equally, and we get to see Celaena interact with both of them. In this book, she chooses one of them and STICKS WITH IT. Thank God. She doesn't string one of them along, she makes it painfully clear who she wants. That's what I like. :)
3~ More Chaol! YES PEOPLE YOU HEARD ME RIGHT. We get more time (and more) with the one and only Captain of the Guard. I LOVE HIM SO HARD, GUYS. The things he just says, the things he does, just breaks my heart. Oh, and you do need tissues for this sequel, guys. MANY TISSUES. Oh, and add chocolate too. You'll thank me later.
4~ It made me cry! And only about one or two books ever made me cry. So this is saying something. It made me laugh, cry, and just basically ALL THE FEELS. There's a lot of things that happened during this book, and whether or not you'd agree with it, no doubt you'd agree it was perfect.
5~ This beautiful world that Sarah created. Even though there's a lot of problems and blah blah blah with this world, I would want to live in it because it's just awesome and Sarah created it. It just feels so real to me.
I don't really want to stop listing but if I don't, I'll never stop lol. There's plenty of action, romance, more killing, more secrets and revelations, the mystery and magic, EVERYTHING just came together beautifully! This series is not one to be missed, even if you're a fantasy fan or not (like me, with this as an exception), you'll really enjoy this!
(FYI: After that ending, I only realized that there's going to be six books in total. I was reading this thinking it would only be a trilogy, but know I kinda get why there's going to be six. I'm just worried that the series will go down due to the number of books and such, and I hope that something (those who've read it will hopefully know what I mean) will get resolved SOON. :P
How did you manage to get the book to read? I thought it wasn't getting released till august. Thanks for the review! You've definitely gotten me excited and jealous because you've already read it!
