To want what you’re not supposed to have…

She is only nineteen.

She is his new stepfather’s daughter.

She is still naïve and innocent due to spending the last three years taking care of her sick mother.

But for twenty-four year old Rush Finlay, she is the only thing that has ever been off limits. His famous father’s guilt money, his mother’s desperation to win his love, and his charm are the three reasons he has never been told no.

Blaire Wynn left her small farmhouse in Alabama, after her mother passed away, to move in with her father and his new wife in their sprawling beach house along the Florida gulf coast. She isn’t prepared for the lifestyle change and she knows she’ll never fit into this world. Then there is her sexy stepbrother who her father leaves her with for the summer while he runs off to Paris with his wife. Rush is as spoiled as he is gorgeous. He is also getting under her skin. She knows he is anything but good for her and that he’ll never be faithful to anyone. He is jaded and has secrets Blaire knows she may never uncover but even knowing all of that…

Blaire just may have fallen too far.

This is only the 2nd book of Abbi Glines that I've read (the first was Just For Now) but I can honestly say I will be reading all of her old and upcoming books. They are just so addictive! Okay, yeah, some people have said (and based on the Abbi Gline books I've read) her stories are typically about manwhore/virgin pairings. I don't know about you but that is probably my most favourite type of romance to read.

Anyway, I loved both main characters. Blaire was such a great protagonist and I really enjoyed her narrative. She's one of those people that I see bits of myself in and also, her reactions/behaviours were all realistic and not over the top. Abbi Glines has written yet another swoon-worthy guy. Rush. (Yes, that's his name.) I admit that I wasn't too keen on him at the start, but halfway through I really fell for him just as much as Blaire.

Some of the problems I've had with Rush was one of THOSE problems I've had with so many love interests. Think Edward Cullen. Think Patch. Think Travis. The ones who's hot and cold the next. The really annoying ones who can't seem to figure out what exactly they want. But I think he redeemed himself to me 3/4 of the book.

Just a warning: this is more of a NA than a YA. The love scenes were pretty graphic and certainly not something you'd expect/read in YA. I didn't mind it, honestly I expected it (look at the cover!) but some people might be like O_O so yeah.

There was this big secret at the end (which you're all hinted at throughout the book) and I gotta say that I really enjoyed that. I thought it was very clever. :) Oh, and the ending. Dear God, the ending. Very emotional and real. I am dying for the sequel. Pretty please.

Even though there were stuff that bothered me, it was still very fun, steamy and entertaining. And you guys know how much I love romance in my books. :)

  3. I'm hoping to read The Vincent Boys soon and I've heard many good things about Abbie Glines' books! 'Manwhore/virgin pairings' Ahahahaha love that <3 Blaire sounds really awesome whereas I'm not too keen on the idea of Rush (although his name is pretty hot!). Hot and cold guys who can't make up their minds irk me a little but who knows... he might grow on me too!

Fab review, Jana! Maybe read The Vincent Boys soon so we can discuss? :D
